Development visions for 2025

In the fast-evolving world of intelligent automation, two platforms have long been familiar names: UiPath and SS&C Blue Prism. 2025 brings significant shifts in both companies’ development strategies, each focused on different aspects of technological evolution.

UiPath, in its official statements for 2025, is betting on the agentic automation revolution. As Daniel Dines, CEO of UiPath, states: “Fiscal 2025 was our most innovative year in recent history, introducing a wealth of new AI capabilities, and redefining the future of automation through our groundbreaking new products: Autopilot, Agent Builder, Agentic Orchestration, and Agentic Testing.” The company is investing heavily in an AI Innovation Hub in London and is developing strategic partnerships with governments, such as the initiative with the UAE AI Office.

SS&C Blue Prism, meanwhile, is focused on building SS&C Blue Prism Enterprise AI as a unified platform combining automation, orchestration and artificial intelligence. The company’s roadmap rests on three pillars: “transform processes, power work and elevate performance”, with the Next Generation platform and the development of Chorus BPM solutions as key components. In 2025, Blue Prism plans to roll out “AI innovations” as well as “Chorus Connect” - a new process application set to transform contact and work management.

Comparison of selected products and features

In this section we present a detailed comparison of the key functional areas of both automation platforms against the latest technology trends. The analysis covers four main categories - from process discovery and intelligent document processing tools to advanced AI technologies and test management. Each area has been examined in terms of available functionality, solution maturity and practical implementation potential, with particular attention to differences in offering and product gaps between UiPath and SS&C Blue Prism in the context of contemporary intelligent automation requirements.

Continuous Discovery - process discovery and analysis

In business process discovery and analysis, UiPath offers a considerably broader range of analytical tools than the competition. The platform delivers a complete ecosystem covering Process Mining for advanced business process analysis, Task Mining for detailed tracking of user tasks, and Communication Mining for organisational communication analysis. UiPath additionally provides Automation Hub for centrally managing automation ideas, and Task Capture for automatically capturing process steps.

UiPath has a particular chance to dominate the technology race with UiPath Maestro™ - a solution that introduces advanced process-modelling capabilities using the BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation) standard. Maestro allows process owners to model agentic processes using BPMN and to define business rules using DMN (Decision Model and Notation) notation. This solution provides full management and governance over the lifecycle of processes and business rules, covering creation, updates and version control.

SS&C Blue Prism currently offers a considerably more limited set of analytical tools in this area. Its foundation is the Capture tool for recording business processes. Blue Prism’s development plans include expanding the Chorus BPM platform for process modelling and optimisation. Chorus BPM is intended to be a complete business process management solution that enables the identification and optimisation of priority workflows and the monitoring of process improvements for continuous peak performance through process and task mining, advanced analytics and business process modelling.

Chorus BPM supports process-modelling standards, including BPMN. The platform covers the full BPM lifecycle, encompassing discovery (how existing processes work), analysis (documenting process performance and impact on business objectives), design (creating models that visualise workflows and identify areas for improvement) and continuous improvement.

However, it lacks the advanced analytical features available in UiPath, such as Communication Mining or Automation Hub, which significantly limits the ability to conduct in-depth analysis of organisational processes. Although Blue Prism supports BPMN, it does not offer agentic orchestration and long-running process management capabilities comparable to UiPath Maestro™.

Intelligent Document Processing

In intelligent document processing, UiPath delivers Document Understanding with a new UiPath DocPath LLM available for fine-tuning in modern projects. This solution allows the model to be adapted to an organisation’s specific document types, which represents a significant technological advantage.

SS&C Blue Prism offers two products in this area: Decipher IDP as an intelligent document processing platform, and Document Automation for automated document processing. Although Blue Prism has IDP solutions, it lacks the advanced AI model fine-tuning capabilities available in UiPath.

Use of artificial intelligence

UiPath is the undisputed leader in integrating artificial intelligence with process automation and is introducing revolutionary agentic automation solutions that are defining the future of the industry. Autopilot is an AI assistant for automation that helps developers build automation processes using artificial intelligence. Agent Builder enables the construction of advanced AI agents capable of independently carrying out complex business tasks. Agentic Orchestration is a breakthrough approach to process orchestration, in which AI agents work alongside robots and people within end-to-end automation. Agentic Testing revolutionises automation testing by using AI agents for intelligent process testing.

One of the key elements of the UiPath ecosystem is once again UiPath Maestro™, which enables organisations to manage and orchestrate long-running, complex enterprise processes involving AI agents, robots and people, operating at scale across systems of engagement and systems of record. Maestro supports the entire lifecycle of long-running business processes, providing controlled autonomy for AI agents with human-in-the-loop capability. This solution allows organisations to deploy agents from UiPath or other vendors (such as LangChain, CrewAI, Agentforce) using a consistent framework, to monitor AI agent activity in real time, and to continuously improve processes and agents based on process data.

The platform offers UiPath AI Center as a central hub for managing AI models, together with integration with virtually any LLM, including OpenAI, Gemini, Claude, DeepSeek and Bielik, with the option of on-premise installation. UiPath additionally provides Clipboard AI for intelligent clipboard management. UiPath is also developing strategic partnerships with governments, such as the initiative with the UAE AI Office, aimed at deploying agentic automation solutions in government bodies and training local AI talent, supporting the UAE’s national strategy to achieve global AI leadership by 2031.

SS&C Blue Prism is only beginning to develop AI solutions and lags significantly behind UiPath in this area. The company is focused on developing its Next Generation platform, which forms the foundation for future automation and AI solutions. Chorus BPM is a growing business process management platform intended to integrate automation with process orchestration. It is worth noting, however, that Chorus BPM has a use case in which SS&C Global Investor and Distribution Solutions (GIDS) uses a digital workforce with an internal LLM to streamline customer communications. In this solution, an employee adds comments to a template in Chorus BPM, an enterprise agent retrieves the case, verifies the information and sends a prompt to the LLM, which then produces a personalised letter using terminology familiar to the customer.

The company plans to introduce AI innovations - a range of artificial intelligence innovations intended to enrich the platform’s capabilities, although specific solutions are still under development. Chorus Connect is a new process application intended to transform contact and work management by integrating voice, AI and workflow automation, offering even more advanced AI integration than current solutions. However, Chorus Connect remains at an early stage of development, reflecting Blue Prism’s broader strategy of presenting a vision of future AI solutions rather than finished products. SS&C Blue Prism has not yet published detailed functional documentation or technical specifications for this application, limiting itself to a general description of its functionality. The solution remains at the concept stage, in contrast to the agentic solutions UiPath is already presenting today.

Blue Prism offers “SS&C Blue Prism Enterprise AI” as a platform combining automation with generative AI, but these solutions are still under development and do not yet offer concrete, ready-to-use AI tools at scale. Blue Prism positions itself as an “Enterprise AI” provider with an emphasis on governance and guardrails for AI, but practical implementations are limited to isolated use cases.

Test automation and test management

UiPath offers a complete testing suite unique on the market, encompassing UiPath Test Manager for managing the test lifecycle, Unattended Test Robots dedicated to automated test execution, and Orchestrator and Automation Ops for orchestrating test processes. A particular strength of UiPath is its dedicated SAP plug-ins, including SAP Heatmap and SAP Change Impact Analysis, which are invaluable in enterprise environments running SAP systems.

A revolutionary element of UiPath’s offering is the new Agentic Testing, delivered through UiPath Test Cloud - a breakthrough approach to software testing that uses advanced artificial intelligence. UiPath Autopilot™ for Testers is the first AI agent dedicated to testers, supporting productivity at every stage of the test cycle. Autopilot offers three key categories of functionality:

Agentic Test Design - AI agents can independently generate manual tests from requirements such as user stories and transactions, including step-by-step instructions together with pre- and post-conditions. They can additionally assess requirements quality in terms of clarity, completeness, consistency and other quality measures.

Test Automation - advanced capabilities for converting manual tests into automated UI or API tests, in coded or low-code mode. Functionality includes test data generation, refactoring of test automation, fixing validation errors, generating expressions, performing fuzzy verifications and auto-healing tests during execution.

Test Management - delivering real-time, practical insights on test results, the ability to import important test cases from external systems such as Excel, and the ability to search test projects using natural language.

A key innovation is UiPath Agent Builder, which enables the construction of custom AI agents tailored to an organisation’s unique testing needs. These agents can operate autonomously, carrying out tasks using UI and API automation tools, collaborating with other agents, and delivering reports in the required format.

Self-healing capabilities ensure automatic adaptation of test scripts to changes in workflows, APIs or application updates, significantly reducing maintenance costs. The system also offers advanced performance testing, with the ability to simulate real user loads, and dynamic dashboards with real-time insights.

SS&C Blue Prism has no dedicated test automation or test management tools whatsoever. This represents a significant gap in the platform’s offering and forces reliance on external testing solutions, which complicates the architecture and increases implementation costs - particularly given the lack of advanced AI agents to support testing processes.

How SNOK guides clients through the full intelligent automation deployment lifecycle

Modern organisations increasingly understand that automation is not a passing trend, but a lasting element of business strategy that can genuinely affect competitiveness, operational efficiency and process resilience. However, the path to effective automation is rarely straightforward - it requires not only choosing the right tools, but above all a carefully considered approach, tailored to a company’s specific circumstances and technological maturity. That is why at SNOK we consistently build our services on an end-to-end model, covering the entire lifecycle of automation projects - from diagnosis and strategy, through technology selection and implementation, to maintenance and further development.

We begin every project with a stage of detailed needs assessment and process analysis. Using tools such as Process Mining, Task Mining and discovery workshops, we work with the client to identify the areas with the greatest potential for automation - both from the perspective of quick operational improvements and long-term organisational transformation. Only on this basis do we select the appropriate strategy and technologies to support business objectives and address the specific challenges of a given IT environment.

In terms of technology, SNOK relies on proven, scalable solutions from world leaders such as UiPath, which consistently sets the direction for the automation and AI agent market. It is precisely thanks to the advanced capabilities of the UiPath platform that our clients can today make practical use of the latest achievements in intelligent automation - from classic RPA, through process orchestration, to integration with AI agents, generative AI and tools such as Agent Builder or UiPath Maestro™.

When we deliver the platform, we do not leave the client to manage the technology alone. We place particular emphasis on the testing stage, using dedicated UiPath tools to automate testing and verify the correctness of deployed solutions.

After the go-live phase is complete, SNOK’s role does not end there. We provide maintenance support, further development of robots and AI agents, ongoing process optimisation, and advisory support on scaling automation into further areas of the organisation. We build partnership relationships with our clients, monitoring the effectiveness of deployed solutions, responding to changes in business processes, and actively proposing new ideas for improvement.

As Mikołaj Ciurla, Team Leader of the Intelligent Automation team at SNOK, notes: “In the automation space, it is UiPath that sets the direction today. This is no longer just RPA, but a comprehensive ecosystem in which automation, AI agents and business process orchestration work together to create real value for organisations. Our task is to translate that potential into concrete benefits for the client - effectively, securely and in line with their growth strategy.

Through this approach, SNOK supports organisations in building modern, flexible and scalable automation environments that not only relieve the burden on operational teams, but genuinely accelerate business growth and raise a company’s level of digital maturity.

Summary

UiPath and SS&C Blue Prism represent different levels of maturity in business process automation in the age of artificial intelligence. UiPath offers the most complete platform on the market, with ready-made AI solutions: from advanced UiPath Maestro™ for agentic orchestration, through Agentic Testing with UiPath Autopilot™ for Testers, to AI model fine-tuning in Document Understanding. The platform is ideally suited to organisations seeking a comprehensive automation solution that can scale from simple RPA tasks to advanced agentic automation.

SS&C Blue Prism, following its acquisition by SS&C, is intensively developing its offering in the direction of Enterprise AI, but most of its solutions remain at the planning stage. Although the company has working examples of LLM integration with Chorus BPM, it lacks the complete analytical tools, dedicated testing solutions and advanced AI capabilities available in UiPath.

The choice between platforms should take into account an organisation’s current needs and its long-term digital transformation strategy. UiPath offers a technological edge and broader capabilities for implementing advanced AI solutions, while Blue Prism focuses on stability and control in the enterprise environment.

That is why the best way to genuinely assess the potential of these technologies in practice remains launching a proof-of-concept (PoC) project. At SNOK we help our clients design and deliver a PoC based on specific business processes - quickly, safely and with minimal risk. This is a proven way to establish, before full deployment, what concrete savings and improvements intelligent automation can bring.
